Tube beads are great for laying out both intricate and organic designs because you have so much more surface area to play with. Most of these are around 2 1/2″ long and perfect for my letter openers.

While my goal was to apply a intricate design on these, I lost myself in several more organic designs. I created a variety of twisted glass rods and applied them to a couple of different base colors I like. In the end this was the result.
This particular bead is 3″ long and was submitted for the silent auction at the 2013 Whistler Molten Experience.

Here’s just a “little” something I made during my last torching session.
This bead is BIG!! It measures 30mm x 22mm and it weighs 33 grams. It took me well over an hour to make.
I was so surprised to see it in one piece when I looked in the kiln the next day. Beads this size need to be kept hot while your working on them or they’ll crack. This success tells me I’m truly mastering my heat control.
I layered on white, purple, amber and deep teal glass. The design is a combination of dots and dragging.
My inspiration for this was based on another piece I made a couple of years ago. While I was hoping to duplicate the old bead, I quickly realized that wasn’t going to happen. The old bead was half the size and only 2 colors.
To finish this bead I added my handmade brass caps as well as some sterling silver caps and a gorgeous ornate silver bail. I opted for the hand dyed silk cord because I feel the colors worked so well together.
…. think I have to try another of these beads.

hi again!
I hope you didn’t experience any delay in getting to my blog/website. Last weekend I decided to take the plunge and changed my web host. I’ve been with the same service provider for over 5 years and needs have changed. My site is much more resource intensive and the amount of traffic has increased substantially.
I run a WordPress driven website for my Blog and a Shopping cart for those of you who like to browse and shop and this type of site requires a bit more resources than a standard site. So I moved my site to a VPS (aka Virtual Private Server) and I think my site now rocks! I’m loading it up with as many resource intensive plugins and photos just to test it. Be sure to let me know if you have any problems accessing my site or with order placement.
Stay tuned ….

These pretty little earrings are what’s new this year. So far I’ve only made earrings from them but you should expect to see them incorporated into bracelets and necklaces very soon.
The beads are 1/2″ diameter by 1/4″ thk and come in a wide variety of colors. The accent beads used on these sets may be either silver plated, pewter or sterling silver findings and I’ve added complimentary seed beads for the little extra pop of color.
Total length of these earrings is approximately 1 1/2″ long. The decorative earwires and eye pins are made in my studio and are sterling or fine silver.
Earrings like these can be found in my store. Click on the link under SHOP on the main menu above.
